Sono partiti da situazioni politiche analoghe, come la diffidenza del main stream e delle opposizioni o come la complicata situazione che hanno ereditato dalle precedenti amministrazioni (il super bonus e i banchi a rotelle non sono stati certo dimenticati).
Ma poi sono entrambi andati a dama. JD Vance e Giorgia Meloni, a colloquio oggi nella prefettura milanese in occasione del taglio del nastro delle Olimpiadi invernali di Milano Cortina, si intendono non poco. Lo dimostra la postura di corpi e sguardi prima che le dichiarazioni.
Hanno in mente ciascuno una Nazione che abbia dei requisiti precisi, che sappia compiere una serie di passi in una certa direzione, non lasciano che la vulgata orientata da certi ambienti possa interferire in strategie e obiettivi.
E poi sono ben consapevoli delle relazioni fra Stati Uniti e Italia, da rafforzare sempre di più anche alla luce di una convergenza politica.
Di fatto il MIGA di Meloni (Make Italia Great Again) è in parte già realizzato dopo tre anni di governo: lo dimostrano i numeri sull’occupazione, le intese siglate dal governo con una serie di partners altamente strategici, la credibilità internazionale riguadagnata con politiche fiscali serie e con impegni assunti con coscienza, dopo gli svarioni di Conte e dei cinque stelle, ma anche dopo le improbabili uscite di Renzi (quando era premier).
A Berlino ne sanno qualcosa: i tedeschi sono passati dalle lavate di testa di Merkel nell’ascoltare le promesse vuote di Conte e Renzi, alla piena collaborazione di Merz. Un abisso.
E di esempi ce ne sono tanti altri, come l’interesse del primo ministro Starmer per i centri in Albania o come la presenza di un italiano alla vicepresidenza esecutiva dell’Ue o come l’attenzione sincera e costante dimostrata dal golfo verso Roma. Un abisso, rispetto al passato.
Per cui, tornando a Vance, oggi a Milano è andata in scena l’anticamera di un possibile nuovo teatro politico: il dopo Trump, così come emerge dalla stampa americana, è iniziato, anche solo per motivi anagrafici. E vedere assieme Vance e Meloni, due a cui nessuno ha regalato nulla, è stata un’istantanea da (buon) sapore politico, ma soprattutto geopolitico.

They each envision a nation with specific requirements, capable of taking a series of steps in a certain direction; they do not allow the popular opinion of certain circles to interfere with their strategies and objectives.
And then they are well aware of the relations between the United States and Italy, which must be further strengthened, also in light of political convergence.
In fact, Meloni’s MIGA (Make Italia Great Again) has already been partially achieved after three years in government: this is demonstrated by the employment figures, the agreements signed by the government with a series of highly strategic partners, and the international credibility regained with serious fiscal policies and conscientiously made commitments, after the blunders of Conte and the Five Star Movement, but also after Renzi’s unlikely outbursts (when he was prime minister).
Berlin knows something about it: the Germans have gone from Merkel’s scolding when listening to the empty promises of Conte and Renzi to Merz’s full cooperation. An abyss.
And there are many other examples, such as Prime Minister Starmer’s interest in the centers in Albania, the presence of an Italian as the executive vice-presidency of the EU, or the sincere and constant attention shown by the Gulf towards Rome. A chasm, compared to the past.
So, returning to Vance, today in Milan the antechamber to a possible new political theater unfolded: the post-Trump era, as the American press has reported, has begun, if only for anagraphic reasons. And seeing Vance and Meloni together, two people who have been given nothing by anyone, was a snapshot with a (good) political, but above all geopolitical, flavor.
